US to build temporary port in Gaza
President Joe Biden, in his traditional speech to the joint session of the US Congress last night, announced that they will build a temporary port for the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, but that the US military will not set foot on land.

US President Biden addressed the country's foreign relations in his annual 'State of the Union' address to the joint session of the US Congress yesterday, saying, "Tonight I am instructing the US military to lead an emergency mission in the Mediterranean to establish a temporary port on the Gaza coast where large ships carrying food, water, medicine and temporary shelter can dock.

No US troops will be on the ground. This temporary pier will greatly increase the amount of humanitarian aid reaching Gaza every day. But Israel must also play its part. Israel must allow more aid into Gaza and ensure that humanitarian workers are not caught in the crossfire. I say to the Israeli leadership that humanitarian aid cannot be a secondary consideration or a bargaining chip. Protecting and saving innocent lives must be a priority. Looking to the future, the only real solution is a two-state solution."

WHAT IS THE STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS?

The State of the Union Address is a speech delivered by the President of the United States to a joint session of Congress, usually once a year in January or February. In the speech, the President speaks about important issues facing Americans and presents his ideas for solving the country's problems, including proposals for new laws and policies.
