More than 40,000 people died in shootings in the US in 2023
According to the data released today by the US-based non-governmental organization called the Archive of Gun Violence, 40,597 people lost their lives in the US in 2023 due to shootings and related violence.

According to the report, 17 thousand 827 people lost their lives in armed attacks, 22 thousand 770 people lost their lives as a result of suicide and 34 thousand 546 people were injured in 2023.

1598 CHILDREN LOST THEIR LIVES

The report stated that 280 children between the ages of 0-11 and 1318 children between the ages of 12-17 lost their lives in violence in 2023. The number of children injured in armed attacks and violence was recorded as 4,311. According to the archive data, 46 police officers lost their lives in the line of duty in 2023, while 355 police officers were injured. 

THE MOST 'DEADLY' ATTACK OF 2023

On October 25, 18 people were killed and 13 people were wounded in a shooting attack in the US state of Maine. The attack was described by Maine Governor Janet Milss as the 'deadliest' attack of the year. The attacker, Robert Card, was found dead in Lisbon after 2 days of search efforts.
