EU warns of disinformation on Israeli-Palestinian agenda
European Union (EU) Commissioner Thierry Breton shared an open letter to Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg due to the disinformation spread on social media platforms on the Israeli-Palestinian agenda.

EU Commissioner for Internal Market Thierry Breton shared an open letter in which he warned Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, owners of X and Meta companies, about the increasing spread of disinformation on the Israeli-Palestinian agenda. The letter raised concerns about the rise in doctored images and misleading information, and urged Musk and Zuckerberg to respond to the complaint within 24 hours and contact 'relevant organisations'.

24 HOURS IN THE FIGHT AGAINST DISINFORMATION

The EU Commissioner gave Mark Zuckerberg, the owner of Facebook and Instagram platforms, 24 hours to control the content due to the rapid spread of disinformation and illegal content on the agenda. The Commission, which is working to implement the EU's new Digital Services Act (DSA) regulations on social media platforms, called on Zuckerberg to develop mechanisms to prevent disinformation by working simultaneously with Europol.

THERE IS DISINFORMATION ON X

"We have indications that the platform is being used to spread illegal content and disinformation in the EU," EU Commissioner Thierry Breton said in a letter to the X platform on Tuesday. Breton pointed out to Musk that EU law sets strict rules for content moderation 'especially when it comes to violent and terrorist content circulating on your platform', and underlined that X must respond to the complaint within 24 hours and contact Europol.
