In the statement, it was stated that the embassy personnel are currently sheltered in the embassy and the following statements were made;
"The U.S. Embassy is closely monitoring the security situation resulting from the infiltration of Hamas militants and the firing of rockets from Gaza into southern and central Israel, including Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.
The U.S. Embassy recognises that there have been casualties as a result of these incidents. Because security incidents, including mortar and rocket fire, often occur without warning, U.S. citizens are reminded to exercise caution and take appropriate steps to increase their security awareness.
US government personnel continue to be prohibited from travelling to Gaza and areas within seven miles (approximately 11.27 km) of Gaza."
