The thousands-years-old Azerbaijan-Italy relations can be traced back to ancient times, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Italian Republic Edmondo Cirielli said at his meeting with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
Saying that Azerbaijan is an important country for Italy, the Italian Deputy FM highlighted the country’s strategic significance in terms of stability in the South Caucasus, and underlined Azerbaijan’s pursuing an independent and sovereign policy in the region. In addition to political ties, Edmondo Cirielli also highlighted the special importance of economic cooperation.
