Pakistani Prime Minister to kick off two-day official visit to Uzbekistan

Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif will kick off his two-day official visit to Uzbekistan on Tuesday after concluding a state visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan.

According to the Pakistani Foreign Ministry, the Prime Minister will be visiting the Uzbekistan at the official invitation of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Prime Minister Sharif will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister besides other members of his cabinet.

Pakistan and Uzbekistan are strengthening ties through trade and economic cooperation. A 1 billion dollar trade deal between the two countries was signed in 2023, and plans for further collaboration, including a roadmap for industrial cooperation, show the two sides’ commitment to boosting regional connectivity.

The Prime Minister of Pakistan and President of Uzbekistan, during the bilateral meeting would discuss all areas of bilateral cooperation including connectivity, economic, trade, investment, energy, defence and security, regional stability, and education. The leaders would also exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest. A number of bilateral agreements and MoUs will also be signed.

The Prime Minister’s visit to Uzbekistan underscores Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthen its ties with Uzbekistan, through fostering greater economic collaboration and exploring new avenues of partnership, as part of the strategic vision for regional integration and economic prosperity.

Earlier Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif concluded his state visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan on February 25.
