The Mor Efrem Syriac Kadim Orthodox Church in Yeşilköy, which is the first church built from scratch in the history of the Republic and whose foundation was laid in 2019 with a ceremony attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan after the allocation of land upon the request of the Syriac community, was opened with a ceremony held today. President Erdoğan also attended the ceremony. In addition to President Erdoğan, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Numan Kurtulmuş, Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya, Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, AK Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik, Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun, Assyrian Kadim Spiritual Leader and Deputy Patriarch Metropolitan Filüksinos Yusuf Çetin, Assyrian Kadim Foundation President Sait Susin, clergy and guests attended the ceremony. In his speech at the ceremony, President Erdoğan said: "Lasting peace in the Middle East is only possible through a final settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. At this point, as we have always stated, it is extremely important to preserve the two-state solution perspective."
