Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis at the ministry. A joint press conference was organised after the meeting. Minister Fidan said, "We have entered a new and positive period in our relations with Greece. During the NATO summit held last July, our President and the Prime Minister of Greece came together. At that time, the two leaders agreed to discuss the relations between the two countries in a positive atmosphere and to solve the problems with a new perspective, and they assigned their foreign ministers to this issue. Today, we have followed up on the issues that our leaders discussed that day."
'CONFIDENCE BUILDING MEASURES ARE ON OUR AGENDA'
Reminding that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Greek Prime Minister Kiryakos Mitsotakis will meet at the United Nations General Assembly in New York on 18 September, Fidan said, "In October, political consultations and joint action plan meetings will be held in Greece at the level of our deputy ministers. In the coming period, confidence-building measures and consultative meetings are also on our agenda. At the end of the year, we envisage holding the 5th meeting of the high-level cooperation council under the presidency of our leaders in Thessaloniki. We reiterated that the problems will be solved through constructive dialogue between the two neighbours and allies. We comprehensively discussed our problems in the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean. We have differences of opinion in the Aegean. We have been discussing these problems in the past. We agreed to bring new approaches to the solution of the problems."
