Ali Cengiz won the gold medal at the World Wrestling Championship
On the last day of the World Wrestling Championships, Ali Cengiz won the gold medal in the 87 kg category.

The World Wrestling Championships held in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, ended after the final and quota competitions held today. Participating in the championship with 30 athletes, Turkish Wrestling National Team completed the organisation with 7 medals.

Ali Cengiz, the national wrestler of Ankara ASKİ Spor, who won the gold medal at 87 kg in the championship as the last world third, defeated Finland's Toni Heikki Metsomaeki (7-3) in the first round and Olympic World Champion Ukrainian Zhan Belenyuk 3-1 in the second round. In the quarter-finals, he defeated Uzbek Jalgasbay Berdimuratov, the 2nd in the world, with the advantage of the last point advantage from 3-3 and reached the semi-finals. In this round, Ali Cengiz defeated Kazakhstan's Nursultan Tursynov with a 4-3 lead and reached the final. 

In the final, Ali Cengiz faced his Hungarian rival David Losonczi, with whom he shared the third place in the World Wrestling Championship. Ali, who wrestled passively in the first minute of the match, gave his opponent 1 point and started the match in the parter position on the ground. He did not give his opponent a point on the ground and the match continued standing. Just before the end of the second half, Ali Cengiz took a 6-1 lead with a headlock and the half ended with this score. Both athletes started the second half in control and entered the last minute with mutual points. Ali Cengiz, who was leading 7-3, became the world champion by winning the match 8-7 even though he gave points in the last seconds. 

7 MEDALS IN WORLD WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIP

Turkish National Wrestling Team completed the championship with a total of 7 medals including 2 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronze medals. Turkish National Wrestling Team won 7 medals in the World Wrestling Championship with a total of 30 athletes in women's (10), men's (10) and women's freestyle (10).

Ali Cengiz in 87 kg and Buse Tosun Çavuşoğlu in 68 kg won gold, Rıza Kayaalp in 130 kg won silver, Taha Akgül in 125 kg, Feyzullah Aktürk in 92 kg, Selçuk Can in 72 kg and Enes Başar in 63 kg won bronze medals.
