In the men's classical bow category of the World Archery Championships held in Berlin, Germany, Mete Gazoz faced Canadian Eric Peters in the final. Mete Gazoz defeated his opponent 6-4 as a result of 28-27, 28-30, 24-28, 30-28 and 28-29 sets and won the gold medal.

BECAME THE FIRST TURKISH ARCHER TO BECOME THE WORLD CHAMPION IN INDIVIDUAL
Mete Gazoz became the first Turkish archer to win a gold medal at the World Archery Championship and made history with this success. The national archer also became the first Turkish archer to reach the final of the World Championship and achieved great success as the World Champion.
BRONZE AND SILVER MEDALS WERE AWARDED
Apart from Mete Gazoz, who finished the championship in 1st place and won the gold medal, the 2nd and 3rd places also received their medals. Canadian Eric Peters won the silver medal, while Brazilian Marcus D'Almeida won the bronze medal and completed the championship.
