The World Health Organization (WHO) has certified Azerbaijan and Tajikistan as malaria-free countries, WHO Regional Office for Europe said on its twitter account.
“This achievement has been possible thanks to sustained political investment and the dedication of the health workforce, together with targeted prevention, early detection and treatment of all malaria cases,” the WHO Regional office tweeted.
“Well-deserved! Congratulations to Azerbaijan and Tajikistan on your malaria-free status. We are now two steps closer to becoming the first region in the world to be fully malaria-free. My thanks to Minister Musayev and Abdullozoda for this historic achievement in your countries, “WHO Regional Director for Europe Hans Kluge posted on his twitter account.
